Acadia has her secrets too. . .

She is not only sweet and cuddly, she is also STUBBORN!!!!!
Acadia does not share her brothers love for food, she hates to be fed and usually will only eat a few bites.
Akri is fed on the floor but Acadia has her bowl placed on the couch, otherwise she won't even eat those few bites. She will only eat everything if she is starving or if she is HAND FED!!!!
(It's no wonder that she is so much skinnier than her brother)
She also has a bratty streak and can display the best selective hearing I've seen in a dog.
Sometimes she will blatantly ignore a command that has been given to her.
Also she can't seem to jump off the couch and run around it to the front door when she is called.
It is as if she becomes too excited, she just jumps on the couch on her back legs and whines or barks!
When she is signaled to lie down, she will often bark her annoyance as she does it, as if you have SO inconvenienced her!

Here's a little secret. . .

Akri only pretends to be a big tough guy, he is actually very sweet and cuddly too.
He loves to play with his toys, (ropes, balls, squeaky toys) beat up his sister and sleep on his back and SNORE.
He likes to be held like a baby, and he will usually fall asleep this way if he is tired. Akri loves FOOD, especially apples, and he waits patiently while I chop them up in the morning, knowing that I'll give him a couple of pieces.
He will growl in his sleep if anyone moves him, or his sister crawls over him, it is very cute.
And recently we discovered that he loves to have the fan on him when he's hot.
He will lie right in front of it and let the breeze blow his ears, it seems to put him to sleep, how cute is that?
The puppies are becoming so smart!
They went to puppy class in their first month and a half with us, but didn't get much out of it, other than lots of playtime with other pups.
They are almost finished their basic obedience class, and have one more class left before they "graduate"
We are shocked that they have learned to SIT, STAY, LIE-DOWN, HEEL, and a few other things, and that is with HAND SIGNALS!!!!!
Now if only we could get them to stop pulling on their leashes during walks!

Here is Acadia in her bright neon orange car harness.
She loves to ride in the car with me and sit in the front seat, she's not quite as happy in the backseat by herself.
There is no picture of Akri in the car, as he does not enjoy riding as much as his sister and has a common tendency to become car sick during rides over 20 minutes long!

These were the first pictures we ever saw of our pups, before we even saw them, who wouldn't want to take them home??????? Look at those ears! We loved that they had uncropped ears and TAILS!

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Sometimes we are able to sneak up on Akri and Acadia napping together, they are such cuddly puppies!

This was the day that we brought them home from Washington, we hadn't yet moved into our new home and the puppies could not stay with us right away. So we brought them to Delta to spend the night and we had to rush out and purchase a crate for them.
We also had previously bought them collars to wear with matching leashes, however Akri had a thicker neck than his sister and his collar didn't fit him. (We found out later that the collars we bought don't fit many tiny dogs) So Akri had to be walked on his car harness.
At first the puppies were very nervous, but they soon relaxed and became their usual playful selves.

TWINS ARE NINE MONTHS OLD!

This is a blog for our adopted puppies Acadia and Akri.
Akri means Lord and Master - which he definitely thinks he is.
Acadia is a very Canadian name for a puppy adopted from the USA.

They are very special because they were the only two puppies in their litter, which makes them TWINS!
They are very close to each other and hate to be apart for long periods of time. They also love to get into trouble together, and they manage to do so quite often!

Akri is black and tan and he is by far the more active of the two. Trouble always seems to find Akri and he can usually be found chewing on something that he should not be chewing on.

Acadia is brindle (which occurs in about 1 out of 50,000 minpins), she is quite shy and timid but loves to cuddle. She is a total lapdog and becomes quite upset when she is removed from a lap.

They are a lot of work, but mostly they are a lot of fun and manage to keep us amused daily.
